Time For Letters

I got an update from Jessie Jackson through e-mail today. Jackson, along with Progressive Democrats of America, is urging voters to contact key senators about the January 6th vote. Click here to visit the PDA website and get information on contacting these politicians.

Also below is a letter I created from the PDA message which I sent through Congress Merge. All of my Arkansas readers can feel free to steal it and contact ou representatives as well. Readers from outside the state may edit it if they feel like it.
Dear [Greeting Individualized for Each Recipient]:

The number of problems surrounding the November 2004 election is just too great to let January 6th pass without contesting the outcome.

This list of election problems includes the improper distribution or allocation of voting machines not just in Ohio but other states. A survey of distribution data shows highly Republican precincts receiving an abundance of machines while the more Democratic areas received sometimes as few as two machines for several thousand of registered voters. This was the leading cause for extremely long waiting periods on voting day and voter discouragement.

Unacceptable handling of provisional ballots took place in many states as well. Despite the Help America Vote Act of 2002, rules for provisional ballots were still not made clear and hundreds upon hundreds of these ballots were discarded and uncounted after the election. Even here in Arkansas provisional ballots were mishandled and many Arkansans, though they were properly registered and eligible, were denied their right to vote.

The Ohio recount was not handled properly and evidence of machine tampering by an employee of Triad is clear. The recount was not done in an open and auditable manor in Ohio and was completely denied in other states. This is a disgrace to Democracy and it is time to stand up and denounce these actions.

Again in this election minorities were targeted for disenfranchisement as was the case in 2000. This time around we must stand up and fight for their rights as well. On January 6th, I am asking you to stand with other Senators and Representatives of conscience and challenge the electoral vote count. Please join this fight for legitimate Democracy in America.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
