Bomb The World

During a break in the Chomsky speech video, Democracy Now played part of Michael Franti and Spearhead's song Bomb the World. It was quite catchy, so I decided to check out the band. Franti and Spearhead released a new album in August 2003. The album, Everyone Deserves Music, is said to be packed with Franti's political views, and Bomb the World is just one example.

From the start with, "Please tell me the reason / behind the colors that you fly / love just one nation / and the whole world we divide," Bomb the World brings what I believe to be a powerful anti-war message and casts a grim but accurate picture of United States policy towards the world. The song has the chorus line, "We can bomb the world to pieces, but we can't bomb it into peace."

The link to download the song from their web site doesn't pan out, so I recorded my own copy from their streaming file. You can download my file (6.19 Mb MP3-192 kbps) if you want to listen.
