The Questions to Your Answers Comments

Comments for: Random Thoughts On Evolution.

A mess for sure. Though i have to say i agree mostly about the (theory of) evolution. The only part that's really been "proven" is the natural selection theory.. which of course is still a theory, but has fairly ample data to support it. You can find examples everywhere. We have no explicit examples of evolution though, for the exact reasons you stated: we havn't been around for a billion years..

One day perhaps.. or it could turn out to be true.
You can't hold a theory too dearly (and scientsits don't), as tomorrow it could be completely obsolite.

In the shower this morning I was still thinking about all this mess. A theory exists for a reason. I still hold to this theory for the most part. I think my main point was that it is a theory. There is an enormous amount of information for point and counterpoint. I think creationists would go to any length to conserve their thought plan. I fear the idea that this would step in the way of pure research and results. Evolutionists though seem equally haughty and full of little tidbits of information that when really considered never add up to much more than the creationists can form on the opposite. I'd like to listen to a biologist or at least somebody with good knowledge of the theory explain some of this. These useless tidbits are really starting to bother me. It seems like everybody has an opinion on the subject and so much of it's based on ignorance and arrogance.

I don't think we really have anything that we can say is truly fact, but eventually things seem to work so good and fit so perfectly that they become fact. About the religion-science thing, science should always win out if there is a quarrel since science is based on the physical and the observable, and religion is based on .... whatever. It also seems to me that anyone that can truly call themselves scientific minded should realize that theories are just theories that are in themselves constantly 'evolving'.

It bothers me to feel that our science is a word of mouth sort of thing straight from high school into college or straight into a regular life style. The idea of scientific basis on physical and observable takes a tumble when we spread the parts of the theory that fit our need and leave the rest to rot. It's like one liners from hell that never tell more than a witty bit that keeps us in the game. Questioning the situation helps a lot, but it gets to be a re-occurring nightmare. Questions are a personality trait I'm crazy about though. It seems like all too often we just accept things without much inquiry. A good example is the way we have all this knowledge about the world when most of us have never been too far out of our own little hunk of kingdom. There is a set of ideals and ideas set in motion from people we look up to when our heads are void, and this can stick with us for some time. These could be parents, or any type of mentor. I guess the world would hardly function 'properly' though if we all just stopped and thought a little. Things would back up, jam, and eventually stop moving. Then we'd be in quite the pickle. Nevertheless, questions and more questions are all I seem to get from here, but what else could I expect?

umm Darwin was used to prove God exists for the longest amount of time...
people knew god made the earth and us... they just didn't know how... so when Darwin came along many people grabbed onto the idea and said... "hey.. thats how God did it!"

Well, Creationists are not too fond of the million year ideas of Darwinian thought. Seven days is a pretty straight forward fact in the Bible, and somehow scholars arrived at a 5000 year age for the Earth. It sounds like another good example of humans ignorantly picking and choosing parts of a larger idea and supporting it with speculation. Neither science nor religion seems immune to it. It's something I try to consider these days before I go off on a rant over faith driven multitudes.
