Well. This is my 200th entry, and what a dusty entry it is. I remembered why I wanted a redesign now. I told Lin the other night that I didn't want one anymore, but now I remember the main reason was my archives. I'd like to cap it off with a link to 2002, and start them over, but I'm not sure how to do it. I'd like to somehow keep comments working on the old entries, which is where I run into the problems. I do at least want the old comments to be accessable. I guess I'll check into outputing the comments to a standard HTML document, and making the entries link to them. Then they will still be viewable, but no longer working. I'd like to start over with a fresh set of entries for 2003, redesign or not. Anybody with MT experience got any suggestions?
UPDATE (A few minutes later):
I was able to create an archive template that would act just like the entry archives, except just show the comments. It sounds like this plan will work. I will be able to create a full set of archived entries, and link them to a full set of archived comments. Then I can move them out to a location uncontrolled by MT, and it should all work fine. I'll edit the entry template so it links to the comments instead of the JavaScript link to the comment CGI. I'm not entirely sure I'll do this in the end. But one reason for doing it is that it takes a bit of time to rebuild 200 entries, so editing can become a drag when my server lags. We'll see. I have lots of ideas.
