      Last Day

Today was the last day at work for my boss, Tony. He'd worked at the library for nearly 17 years, starting at the same position I started. It must be strange to move on. The work for me today was more monotonous than it's ever been I think. Maybe it was the fact that Tony won't be there to talk to tomorrow coupled with the vast array of morons I dealt with today. One girl sauntered up to the circulation desk and thrust a book in my direction. I asked, "Do you want to check this out?" She smiled sarcastically and spat back, "No! I just want to hand it to you..." At this point all I could answer was, "Well, I'm sorry." I checked out her book and she went on her way. I wasn't pushed near far enough to talk back to her. It was just quicker not to respond. It wouldn't be a big deal if checking out is all you can do with a book at the circulation desk. You can check books out, places books on hold, renew books, return books, and place books on reserve. There are other things you can do, but those are the most common, and I believe my point is made. Watch yourself the next time you think you're being cute. You're most likely just being a moron.
